was one of three students in the summer course and had a seizure within the first few minutes of watching The Wire (incredibly interesting but apparently gives me seizures, hooray)
went to academic adviser to see what I can do for majors/minors & he's also recommending me not to go Shanghai (naaaay, but he's aware that I truly do wish to go and not going to find ways to prevent me)
went to Environmental Science adviser to ask about re-doing/making the Albert section of my academic transcript and check out if I really did finish the Environmental Science minor part of my academic career
went to Social and Cultural Analysis adviser and ended up talking with Noeva for a bit. She told me about her life and I was surprised at how connected it was to mine! She was a Stuy graduate and went through NYU Stern (though she did say that it wasn't really called anything much back in her days), and then entered the business sector for fifteen years before popping out and having a family. She's working for NYU so she won't pay the tuition for her son, who's supposedly going to be a senior. She talked of how she had wanted to enter the fashion industry, how her friends work for Disney for super low wages, and how I ought to connect with professors and are likely to find things through nepotism. I'm thinking of going to visit Sandhu soon and asking about the Asian American Literature class, which is offered every year. I want more information about the classes and years offered but I guess I'll make do with what I have.
got acupuncture from my father
Today, class was pretty decent and I think I'm feeling much more comfortable with the professor and class itself. Today is also the day I shall be arriving at this event with a few SWS people, and most likely some Stuy friends as well. Not entirely sure if any NYU buddies will be going though.
Hoping to make it to Shanghai and hoping that these seizures/epilepsy (still not officially diagnosed yet because need to be hospitalized again) won't keep cropping up.
ETA: While walking to meet Linda, met a homeless black man on the street. I had an open bag of small Cheetos and asked if he wanted it. We started talking. He was a graduate of John Dewey, knows NYU as the 'Suicide College' for undergraduates but decent for graduates, and often visited the park or around the place I passed him on good days. I'm thinking of looking and asking if he wants to go get the Thursday $1.49 Big Mac at McDonalds if free.
